Joy Division play celebrates 10 Years!

“Following its debut at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in 2013, ‘New Dawn Fades: A Play About Joy Division & Manchester’, is celebrating its 10thanniversary with a new tour this October. It is the story of ‘four ordinary lads who, inspired by the punk revolution of 1970s Manchester, came together to form one of the most influential bands of all time, Joy Division. Following the untimely death of lead singer Ian Curtis, the band went on to huge world-wide success as New Order.

To celebrate a decade of the stage show, the company will be performing at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, plus The Leadmill (Sheffield), and The Met (Bury).

After ten years, this brand new revamped and re-energised show will be produced by Nigel Carr and Tony Davidson and directed by Mark Jones, Artistic Director at Chorley Theatre. Nigel is partner in celebrated online magazine and radio station, Louder Than War. Tony operated the TJM record label and rehearsal studios (on Little Peter Street) in the 1970s. The label released records by The Distractions and Slaughter & The Dogs, amongst others. The rehearsal rooms played host to a plethora of upcoming bands including Buzzcocks, V2, Mick Hucknall, and Joy Division. T J Davidson’s is also the place where the iconic ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ video was filmed.”
